Conor McGregor Shares Support Of Fellow Irishman Callum Walsh Ahead Of Inaugural Zuffa Boxing Card

Conor McGregor took to social media to show his support of Callum Walsh, who headlines the inaugural Zuffa Boxing card on Friday night.

Walsh faces former world title challenger Carlos Ocampo in a middleweight contest at the Meta Apex on Friday night, with McGregor supporting his fellow countryman.

Irish MMA star Conor McGregor has taken to social media to show his support for fellow countryman Callum Walsh ahead of his fight on Friday night at the Meta Apex.

Walsh takes on former world title challenger Carlos Ocampo in the inaugural Zuffa Boxing card in Las Vegas, promoted by UFC President Dana White.

McGregor has revealed he will enter new UFC contract negotiations with White, Hunter Campbell and co in February ahead of a rumoured UFC White House main event comeback, but is first showing his support of Ireland’s next boxing star.

Walsh is currently 15-0 with 11 knockouts, and fights for the 16th time as a professional on Friday, January 23 in what is his toughest fight to date.

Although he won’t be in attendance, McGregor will be watching Walsh in action, cheering his fellow countryman on as he looks to extend his unbeaten record to 16-0 with another impressive display.

All eyes are on the Meta Apex for this Zuffa Boxing debut card, which sees Walsh headline and several other up-and-coming fighters also in action on the undercard.

McGregor is a patriotic man and evidently loves his country, hence why he wants all Irish fighters, whether it be in boxing or MMA, to excel and make a name for themselves in their own right.

McGregor was previously spotted at one of Katie Taylor’s world title fights, even walking her to the ring with her belts aloft. The former two-division simultaneous UFC champion wants the same success for Walsh as ‘KT’, which he has shown with his message of support for the 24-year-old.

Callum Walsh Faces Former World Title Challenger In Zuffa Boxing Debut Card

Callum Walsh is one win away from a world title shot this year, but first must defeat former world title challenger Carlos Ocampo in the main event of the inaugural Zuffa Boxing card in Las Vegas.

The Irishman takes on the tough Mexican in a middleweight contest at the Meta Apex on Friday night, and is the comprehensive favourite to extend his unbeaten record to 16-0.

However, ‘King’ will have to be at his best if he is to beat Ocampo and further climb the rankings as he edges closer and closer to his maiden world title shot.

Ocampo has lost three times as a professional, with one loss being for a full world title and the other two being for interim world titles. This means that the only people to have beaten Ocampo are world level fighters.

Errol Spence Jr, Sebastian Fundora and Tim Tszyu are the only men to have beaten Ocampo, which makes for a potentially tough night for Walsh, this time competing up at 160-pounds rather than his usual light-middleweight division.

Walsh is one of five Irish boxers ranked in the WBC top 10, and could even climb the rankings further with an impressive victory over Ocampo on this Z01 card, promoted by UFC president Dana White.

Although Conor McGregor won’t be in attendance at ringside for Walsh’s next fight, he will be cheering him on from back home in Ireland as the 24-year-old looks to claim the biggest win of his career to date.
