Watch: Two Incredible Moments From Katie Taylor’s Enthralling Battle With Jessica McCaskill

If you haven’t seen Katie Taylor’s WBA title bout with Jessica McCaskill, it is certainly worth checking out in full…

Heading into her WBA lightweight title defence last night, Katie Taylor was the overwhelming favourite with most pundits predicting that the Irish champion would walk through her American opponent.

However, Taylor was given a much tougher fight than most expected with the 31-year-old taking some heavy shots from McCaskill over the course of their ten round bout and even seemed to be slightly wobbled by a vicious left hook in the sixth.

Although Taylor eventually prevailed (in rather comfortable fashion) on the judges’ scorecards, incredible footage from the American’s corner heading into the final round has revealed how McCaskill’s team felt that the Irish champion was very much there for the taking on the night.

“Last round, short shots, hands up, walk in behind the jab, that’s all you got to do. And if you see something?  F**king throw it. Throw it, sit on it, close the gap and fucking throw it.

“They’re not going to give us a decision. Hit her with a f*cking missile so we can go home. That’s it.

“We came all the way over here, she don’t want to fight, she’s f*cking, she’s a princess, knock her out. Let’s go.”

An incredible moment from the seventh round has also garnered some traction online as, after getting wobbled in the sixth and having a point deducted in the subsequent round, Taylor showed her extraordinary confidence and composure as she taunted McCaskill and invited her to trade on the ropes.

Having not fought in Ireland since she turned pro in November of last year, Taylor is expected to return to Irish soil for a potential title unification bout in March or April of 2018.
