Bob Arum and Dana White don’t exactly see eye-to-eye.
The Top Rank Promotions boss and UFC president have made that much pretty clear at just about every opportunity they get to discuss the other.
Dana recently revealed his plans to move into boxing promotion in 2018 as well as mixed martial arts moving forward. The UFC boss, along with Frettita brothers Frank and Lorenzo, has been a major player in transforming the UFC from a small entity bought for $2 million into one of the most successful sporting business ventures of all-time, seeing the company valued at $5 billion by the time the Frettita brothers full divested from the company in September.
Now, White wants to turn his hand to boxing. Having been a part of the huge Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather fight back in August which generated astronomical financial revenue, the lure of more historical and financially healthy events is ome Dana couldn’t turn down.
Well, veteran promoter Bob Arum whose stable houses names such as Manny Pacquiao and Michael Conlan, has reacted to the news that Dana will be entering his domain.
Arum states his belief that White’s crossover into boxing shows an acceptance that the sport of MMA truly plays second-fiddle to boxing.
Dana also recently revealed he feels Antony Joshua is the most marketable boxer in the world, and although the British heavyweight champion of the world is signed to Eddie Hearn’s promotion Matchroom Boxing, the 48-year-old made no secret of the fact he would love to work with him. AJ is set to take on WBO heavyweight champ Joseph Parker in a unification bout next, who happens to be signed with Top Rank.
