Twitter Reacts To The Heavyweight Classic Between Anthony Joshua And Wladimir Klitschko At Wembley

In one of the most significant heavyweight title fights in years, Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko produced action, drama and excitement to match the momentous occasion.

After a tentative but gripping opening few rounds, Joshua dropped Klitschko beneath an intense shower of punches in the fifth, only to run out of gas and flirt with defeat in the closing seconds of the stanza. He came even closer to the brink in the sixth after Klitschko flattened him with a beautiful right hand. The towering puncher showed his heart though, rising to his feet and seeing out the storm.

In the eleventh, behind according to most media tallies but, as it turned out, not on the official scorecards, a rejuvenated Joshua once again turned up the heat to clinically dispose of Klitschko and establish himself as the world’s number one heavyweight, at least in the absence of countryman Tyson Fury.

The fight, which played out in front of an audience of 90,000 people at Wembley Stadium and millions around the world, is being celebrated as an all-time heavyweight classic on Twitter.
