Mayweather Claims A Jump To ‘Barbarian Sport’ MMA Could Make Him A Billionaire

During a sometimes offensive, often bizarre online Q&A recently, Floyd Mayweather Jr. teased fans with the idea of a run in MMA that he claims could move him from the obscene multi-multi-millionaire category to billionaire status.

The once again supposedly retired boxer isn’t exactly short of a few shillings after he welcomed Conor McGregor across from the opposite side of the boxing/MMA divide in August and finished him in the tenth round of an at times surprisingly gripping contest that was disgustingly lucrative for everyone involved.

As his ‘Money’ moniker suggests, however, Mayweather is as big a fan of the almighty dollar as there is on the planet, so a return to action can never be completely ruled out. An MMA bout though? That seems like a bit of a stretch.

Nonetheless, Mayweather himself brought up the idea seemingly apropos of nothing during the aforementioned fan interaction session.

“You already know I’m a money-getting motherf**ker,” said Mayweather. “I’m Money May. They just called me not too long ago and asked me to come back. I can come right back to the UFC. If I want, I can go, I can come right back to the UFC, I can go fight in the Octagon. I can do a three or four fight deal in the Octagon and make a billion dollars. Remember, I’m Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, and you motherf**kers love me, and I love you motherf**kers(Transcription via MMAMania).”

At one of the press conferences during the wild MayMac world tour, Mayweather suggested that he would be willing to follow his boxing match against McGregor with an MMA fight against the Irishman. McGregor laughed off the claim. We’d imagine ‘The Notorious’ one will have a similar reaction to Mayweather’s latest little speech.

In 2009, Mayweather trashed the sport of MMA in a television interview.

“It takes true skills to be in the sport of boxing,” Mayweather said. “Mixed martial arts is for beer drinkers. Boxing is for everybody. You can’t take my shoes off and take my shirt off and just throw me in the cage. You do that with animals. You know, you don’t do that with humans.”

Though it sounds like he no longer finds the idea of stepping into a cage quite so objectionable, it doesn’t seem that Mayweather holds the sport of MMA in much higher regard now than he did eight years ago. During the Q&A he referred to Mixed Martial Arts as a “barbarian sport.”

“I’m so tough at what I do, they had to go to a whole ‘nother barbarian sport to go get a motherfucker that would try to fuck with me,” he said(Transcription via “And you already know what I did with that. Lights out, party’s over, you can kiss the babies. It’s bankroll, you know, all I do is dress, flex and progress. And you already know I went from the streets to the executive suites.”

And he’s a businessman between the sheets, apparently. You can watch the Q&A, in which he also provided far too much information about his book-balancing sexual habits, below…
