Cuban defensive maestro Guillermo Rigondeaux has signed with Roc Nation, the promotional outfit of rapper Jay-Z, and will make a return to the ring on the bill headlined by Miguel Cotto’s middleweight title defence against Saul Alvarez.
It had been rumoured in recent days that the double Olympic champion was about to sign with the company, and today those rumours proved true.
ESPN’s Dan Rafael confirmed the news on Twitter.

Several sources are also reporting that they have learned the identity of his opponent for November 21st. Both BoxingScene and The Ring claim that Filipino super-bantamweight Drian Francisco was pulled from a scheduled fight on Friday night due to the fact that he had landed the fight with Rigondeaux.
Regardless of who he fights next weekend, it will be Rigondeaux’s first bout in 11 months. He was last seen on New Year’s Eve when he survived a couple of knockdowns to dispatch Japan’s Hisashi Amagasa in the 11th round.
