Chris Eubank Jr is the new IBO Super-Middleweight Champion, beating Australian Renold Quinlan with a tenth-round stoppage.

It was Eubank Jr’s 24th victory from 25 fights, with his only defeat coming against Billy Joe Saunders in 2014.

Relative unknown Quinlan proved a tougher opponent than many expected and the younger Eubank couldn’t find a knockout punch, despite dominating throughout. Referee Howard Foster eventually decided enough was enough and stopped the fight in round ten.

The IBO World Championship is shown little respect within the world of boxing and Twitter users gave their opinions on the new ‘World Champion’ after the fight.

Chris Eubank Snr, who shadows his son at every fight, may be considered a boxing great but he still received criticism in several tweets.

After his victory, Jr said he now wants to step up a level and fight the likes of James Degale, Andre Ward and Gennady Golovkin. This drew more criticism, with Twitter users outraged he would consider himself in the same class as those established world champions.

Whoever he decides to fight next, it looks like the new IBO title holder may have his work cut out proving to boxing fans he is a legitimate world champion.
