The UFC are lining up a huge monetary package to lure Anthony Joshua away from Matchroom Boxing according to a report tonight in The Telegraph.
According to the report, the UFC want to sign Joshua on a multi-fight deal which would earn the 28-year-old $500 million (£353 million) and as a result, make him the richest British boxer of all time.
Joshua’s appeal is a rare commodity in the world of professional boxing and it is reported that Dana White is impressed with the Londoner’s global appeal as he has more or less brought the heavyweight division out of the doldrums and into the spotlight once again.
White is due to attend Joshua’s next fight which is against Joseph Parker in Cardiff on Saturday week and meet his team. If Joshua wins that fight, he will gain the WBO world heavyweight title to add to his current WBA and IBF belts and he will then be expected to take on Deontay Wilder for the WBC belt to unify the division.
It is reported that the UFC wants to become more heavily involved in the sport of boxing and the next step would be to lure Joshua away from Matchroom Boxing and promoter Eddie Hearn after successfully helping organise the much publicised Conor McGregor v Floyd Mayweather bout.
