Everything You Need To Know About Michael Conlan’s Fight Tonight

Irish boxer Michael Conlan returns to the ring tonight as he takes on Russian Vladimir Nikitin in Madison Square Garden, New York.

Conlan will be looking for a measure of revenge against the man who controversially defeated him at the Rio Olympic games in 2016 when the pair clash in the professional ranks.

Where Is The Fight On?

Conlan’s 10 round bout with Nikitin takes place on the undercard of Terence Crawford v Egidijus Kavaliauskas at Madison Square Garden in New York.

What Time Is it On? 

Coverage of the fight begins at 2.am Irish time, with Conlan expected to make the walk around 2:15 am. He is the first of three fights on the main card.

Luckily for Irish fans you can catch the fight on Eir Sport 1, with ESPN showing coverage in the United States.

Who Is He Fighting?

Conlan is fighting Vladimir Nikitin who he controversially lost to in the Rio Olympics in 2016, in a fight that he unquestionably would have won but for the judges.

Nikitin was unable to fight in the semi-finals due to the injuries he suffered but still won a bronze medal and Conlan will no doubt have revenge on his mind tonight.

The Russian fighter is currently 3-0 in his professional career winning all of his fights via a decision, with his last win coming in a mixed decision win over Juan Tapia in March.

Who Is The Favourite?

Conlan is undefeated since turning pro in 2017, winning seven of his 12 fights via knockout, meaning he goes into this one as the heavy favourite.

The Belfast boxer is 1/20 with Nikitin valued at 17/2 while you can get a draw at 33/1.
