Over the weekend, Floyd Mayweather Sr. was asked about the rumours that were circulating regarding his son, Floyd Mayweather Jr. taking on UFC champion Conor McGregor.
Although the initial reports had been dismissed as tabloid gossip, surprisingly Mayweather Sr. legitimized the story by stating that his son recently informed him that he would be fighting soon against an ‘MMA fighter’.
On Tuesday morning, Floyd Sr. put out yet another interview focused on the highly mooted fight, this time via the Mayweather’s official boxing channel, in which he made a number of incredible claims which will without doubt lead to increased certainty that the fight is being organised.
‘I think it would be bigger than Pacman and Floyd. You just wait and see,’ he said.
Asked what chance he would give Conor of beating his son, Floyd Sr. quickly stated; ‘Zero percent.’
‘I’m not going to say that it would be the quickest knock out of Floyd’s career. I’m not gonna say that. But it would be one of the most humiliating fights that anyone could see.’
Finally asked whether or not he thought the fight would actually be made and whether or not he wanted to see it happen, Mayweather Sr. responded emphatically.
‘Oh hell yes. It’s an easy test. You know what Floyd’s gonna do.’
