Katie Taylor Stops Kimberly Connor In Three Rounds To Retain Belts

Katie Taylor got her tenth win in the professional ranks after a vicious showing at The 02 Arena.

On the undercard of Dillian Whyte vs. Joseph Parker, the Bray woman got another chance to showcase her talents in front of a massive audience.

Though those skills weren’t always on display throughout the short duration of the bout, Taylor’s win was no less dominant.

Both fighters came out aggressive in the first round, and while Connor was wholly outmatched in terms of hand speed and technique, she managed to land some blows as Taylor’s laissez-faire defence on the inside continued the trend of previous bouts in being less than ideal.

When she fought at range, Taylor was imperious though, and quite easily took the first two rounds. A head clash causing a cut wasn’t enough to deter the Olympic champion, who finished her foe with a superb, nasty flurry in the third round.

With her IBF and WBA female lightweight titles now safely tucked away, a bigger encounter likely awaits around October for Taylor, with another belt possibly on the line.
