Paulie Malignaggi and Carl Froch give their view on which of Britain’s best, Kell Brook & Amir Khan, should face either Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao.
With the May/Pac fight just days away, the boxing world is awash with speculation and opinion of the fight itself and what lies beyond. Former and current World Champions respectively, Paulie Malignaggi and Carl Froch, have given their take on which of Britain’s two best boxers, Kell Brook and Amir Khan, should face either Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao.
As a former opponent of Amir Khan’s, Paulie Malignaggi, who lost to Khan by 11th round TKO, is adamant that a fight involving Floyd won’t be forthcoming.
Both men told Sky Sports of their take of what the future holds for the four protagonists:
“I think both guys present too much danger. Mayweather and Pacquiao won’t fight them. I don’t see it happening,” called Paulie. “I think you might see Floyd more so leaning towards retirement, as opposed to Pacquiao. If he wants to fight, he will fight everybody. I think if there’s a shot for Amir or any of them, I think it will be Pacquiao. I don’t see Floyd taking on another tough challenge.”
The Cobra also played down the possibility of a Khan superfight with either Mayweather or Pacquiao.
“I would like to see Mayweather come over here and fight Kell Brook. I’ve got no interest in the Khan fight,” Froch claimed. “He’s [Khan] had a couple of decent wins but I just think either of them, certainly Mayweather, is a mis-match. Brook is far more exciting, has got more punch power and can take a shot better than Khan. I just can’t see him getting Mayweather here or over there.”
We previously agreed with both fighters assessments, insofar as long as an undefeated Kell Brook ratchets up more wins, Khan should forget about any ‘superfight’ and focus on ‘Special K’ first – Amir Khan Should Focus On Boxing And Stop Dreaming.
