Paulie Malignaggi was one of the many people who was angered by the leniency of Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’s recent suspension for doping.
Boxing analyst and former world champion Paulie Malignaggi may have earned himself a bad reputation within both MMA and Irish circles following his supporting role in August’s matchup between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather but when it comes to breaking down the action in the ring itself, few are as good as the former welterweight kingpin.
The controversy that surrounded Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’s failed drug test just weeks before he was due to rematch Gennady Golovkin on Cinco de Mayo has been the story of the boxing world for 2018 and while even the first contest between the two was full of controversy, now, the prospect of seeing them compete against each other again this year has been rendered highly unlikely.
Age is very much on Canelo’s side this time around as Golovkin enters his 36th year and while it seemed as though the Kazakhstani did enough to take home the win comfortably in the first bout, many are wondering how this long lay off may work things in the Mexican’s favour.
Triple G will face Vanes Martirosyan on May 5 instead as Canelo has to sit out and serve a 6 month ban.
Malignaggi gave his take on the ban in a recent interview posted to Fight Hub TV and it’s fair to say that he is far from happy with how things played out.
