Callum Smith managed to shut down George Groves in the seventh round of their riveting super-middleweight matchup to win in the WBSS Super Middleweight final.
And while it lasted, it was a fantastic contest.
The momentum seemed to be edging further into Smith’s favour as the fight went on but make no mistake, it was a pretty close bout as they headed into the seventh round.
Groves was on the backfoot for the vast majority of the matchup but did manage to score some solid shots on his rangy opponent.
It was Smith, though, who managed to land the shot that turned the tide completely in his favour – wobbling the veteran Groves before he was able to put him away with a barrage of strikes.
