Katie Taylor has been scheduled for a spot on Canelo Alvarez’s undercard as she gets set to face unbeaten Finnish boxer Eva Wahlstrom on December 15.
The card will stand as the first in the incredibly lucrative series of fights set to be headlined by Mexican superstar Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez on streaming service DAZN over the course of the next three years.
According to promoter Eddie Hearn, Irish boxing icon Katie Taylor will also feature on the card which is set to take place in Madison Square Garden, New York on December 15.
Hearn explained his excitement in booking Taylor for a showdown in MSG (via ESPN), though he described the fight as the toughest of her career.
“This is an amazing opportunity for Katie to fight at MSG.
“This is by far the toughest fight of her career so far and hugely important moving into 2019.”
Her opponent Eva Wahlstrom is an unbeaten Finnish boxer with a pro-record of 22-0-1 and while that record outmatches Taylor’s in terms of its numbers – Wahlstrom is yet to fight outside of her home-country and has not faced the level of competition the Bray-native has to date.
