Katie Taylor reached a new career-high after dominating Victoria Bustos to unify both the WBA and IBF lightweight belts.
The sky really is the limit for the unbeaten Bray boxer Katie Taylor, something she proved once again with a thoroughly dominant win in what was the biggest test of her career to date.
Her opponent, Victoria Noelia Bustos, saw her five-year reign as the champ come crashing down after being subjected to a pretty clear beating at the hands of her adversary. Taylor, who made her ninth walk to the ring as a professional last night, used her aggression and superior technique to stifle her Argentian dance-partner for the vast majority of the fight and while Bustos showed good heart, Katie never looked to be in danger of letting her lead slip.

The judges saw it 99-91, 99-1, and 98-92 when all was said and done over the ten scheduled rounds and with that, Taylor makes her claim as the world’s top 135lb fighter that bit more definitive.
She has made her wish for a homecoming fight known in recent times and with several other big names still to take out in and around her weight-class, look to the rest of 2018 for more movement in the professional rise of Katie Taylor.
