Golovkin & Long-Time Trainer Part Ways Under Tense Circumstances

Gennady Golovkin has parted ways with his long-time trainer Abel Sanchez under circumstances that appear to be of an acrimonious nature.

Golovkin, who was last seen in action against the superstar Canelo Alvarez in September, coming away from that fight on the losing end of a majority decision, earned a lucrative contract with blossoming streaming service DAZN in recent times – one believed to be in the region of $100 million.

According to his coach Sanchez, however, the changes that have been brought about by this increased cashflow have done irreparable damage to their relationship.

Although, the statement initially released by Golovkin seemed to make it seem as though all was well and good between them.

By the looks of things, based on Triple G’s statement, it seemed as though the split was a relatively run of the mill affair – as Gennady praised his longtime associate for the work he has put in over the last number of the years.

However, Sanchez’s own statement – released via Jaime Motta’s Twitter account – made it very clear that not all was well between both parties.
