Belfast’s Paddy Barnes took home both his first professional career stoppage win as well as the WBO intercontinental flyweight title with a win overĀ Eliecer Quezada tonight.
Paddy Barnes managed to deliver a beautiful TKO victory for those in attendance at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Nothern Ireland as he powered his way to a fifth-round victory over his opponentĀ Eliecer Quezada.
Barnes, who moves to 5-0 as a professional, represented Ireland on two separate occasions as an amateur in the Olympic Games (in 2008 and 2012) scored his first ever finish by stoppage in this matchup and managed to take home the WBO Intercontinental Flyweight title in the process.
Barnes joins Carl Frampton and Jamie Conlan as two of the most high-profile homegrown fighters on the card itself and those present in the packed SSE Arena understandably went crazy when their man managed to put an asterisk on what was a strong finish to the fight.
