Ireland’s victory over England at Twickenham last March which secured a historic Grand Slam was the most-watched sporting event in Ireland of 2018.
In official figures released today by TAM, that clash on St. Patrick’s Day secured 975,600 viewers with a 71% audience share. It came second in the overall list of the most watched programmes of 2018, across all genres.
It was pipped to the post by the ever-popular Late Late Toy Show which secured a whopping 1,550,400 viewers.
The Ireland men’s rugby team was a consistent feature throughout the most watched programmes last year.
Ireland’s historic victory over New Zealand at the Aviva Stadium was the second most watched sporting event and the third overall with 926,600 viewers
That November clash was followed by England’s semi-final loss to Croatia at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
