Limerick’s Ciara Neville has sailed so far, easily qualifying for the semi-finals of the 100m at the IAAF World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland.
The eighteen-year-old Emerald AC athlete finished second in the fourth heat of the 100m race with a season-best time of 11.54.
Her second-place finish sends her through to Thursday’s semi-final race which will begin at 4pm Irish time.
The fourth heat was won by Kristal Awuah, of Great Britain, in a time of 11.35.
Neville will represent Ireland in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay this week in Finland.
