The FAI have reportedly shown interest in Colorado born defender Brendan Hines-Ike who plays in the Swedish league for Orebro.
American journalist Brian Sciaretta is reporting that the 23-year-old defender has peaked FAI interest and is currently in the final stages of applying for his Irish passport.
Hines-Ike is in his third season with Swedish side Orebro and has an Irish grandfather thus making him eligible to be recruited by the Boys in Green.
I am hearing that there has been some interest from the Irish federation for Orebro's American central defender Brendan Hines-Ike who has become one of the best defenders in the Swedish Allsvenskan. The Colorado native is in the final stages of acquiring his Irish passport.

Sciaretta also refers to Hines-Ike as “one of the best defenders in the Swedish Allsvenskan” with many European clubs reportedly showing interest in the former college football player.
The young defender was invited to the MLS combine in 2016 but eventually made the move to Sweden instead.
Hines-Ike had previously been linked with a move to Holland but still remains an Orebro player.
“Some of the clubs that now know my name in Holland, I would have never expected. I would never have expected people there to be in a boardroom now talking about me. But it’s not a distraction. I am a focused person.”
