After 723 games for the club, Elliott Morris finally got on the scoresheet today.
It’s OK though, he’s the clubs goalkeeper.
Glentoran travelled to Derry today to take on Institute in the Irish Premiership.
Once a powerhouse of football in Northern Ireland alongside city rivals Linfield, “The Glens” have fallen somewhat in the past number of seasons.
They currently lie in eighth position in the league with their opponents today sitting in seventh, but still eight points clear.
Glentoran were able to come out on top though and travelled back to Belfast with the three points following a 2-0 win at the Riverside Stadium.
The games key moment came in the tenth minute of the game when goalkeeper Morris lined up a freekick deep inside his own half.
Morris put his head down, drove his foot through the ball and sent it all the way down and over his opposing goalkeepers head.
Did he mean or not? You decide for yourself. One thing is for sure though. He’s been dreaming of that celebration for 723 matches.
