‘His Mother Had Seen A Voodoo Or Something’ – Everton Owner Explains Lukaku Exit

Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri made some rather bizarre comments about Romelu Lukaku’s exit at the club’s AGM on Tuesday evening.

Last summer, Manchester United completed the £75 million signing of former Everton striker Romelu Lukaku. It went down as the second biggest transfer in the history of the Old Trafford club but it appears that Everton supporters were not entirely pleased to see the deal come to pass.

Lukaku scored 61 goals in 141 appearances with the Toffees and, speaking about the Belgian international’s exit at Everton’s AGM on Tuesday evening, Farhad Moshiri told an eyebrow-raising story about negotiations they’d held with the 24-year-old.

“During the meeting, he said he had to call his mother, who was on a pilgrimage in Africa and had seen a voodoo or something who said he had to go to Chelsea.”

Moshiri went on to state that holding onto Lukaku would have been next to impossible before suggesting that Suarez forced his way out of Anfield by ‘biting a few players’.

“He was in LA and didn’t want to come back. Alex Ferguson got another year out of Ronaldo but then he was off. Suarez had to bite a few players and he was off.”

Lukaku has scored 16 goals in 31 appearances since joining the Red Devils and is set to start on Monday night when United will take on Stoke City at Old Trafford.
