Shane Duffy Scores Fourth Goal Of Season With Tidy Finish

The race for the Irish defender golden boot in the Premier League continues in style.

Wolves’ Matt Doherty has scored three goals so far in a breakout season, but compatriot Shane Duffy has moved ahead of that tally at the London Stadium.

Brighton earned a crucial win over Everton at the weekend, putting them ten points above the relegation zone. Chris Hughton’s side looked to have matched that feat on Wednesday night away to West Ham.

After a scoreless first half, two quick-fire goals had the visitors pegged as heavy favourites to see out the game.

Dale Stephens scored after 56 minutes to put Brighton ahead of a West Ham side that have won five of their last seven games.

Just two minutes later, Duffy stepped up to double the lead with a neat goal, controlling the ball from a corner before flicking it past Lukasz Fabianski with the outside of his boot.

Unfortunately for the Seagulls, West Ham fired off two goals of their own in quick succession.

Marko Arnautovic got his sixth and seventh league goals of the season with 25 minutes left to claw back a point for the Hammers.
